Any Publicity is Good Publicity?

Mataura is in the planning and consultation stages of a makeover of our main street. If it all comes together it will be a hugely positive and exciting development for our town - and as a community we all stand to benefit immensly.

Tonight Mataura was featured on TV3 News - I don't quite know why they did it, but what is essentially a positive story about a small town getting off its arse to do something fantastic, ended up coming across as a really negative story. I can't even begin to express how hugely disappointed I am.

Billionaire Clown is Moving Stars and Earth for Water

Billionaire founder of Cirque de Soleil, Guy Laliberte, has spent US$35 million for a 12 day sojourn into space.

He's not just going for kicks though - he has a serious mission: To raise awareness about water related issues (he's also President of ONE DROP Foundation).

On October 9th, he will be Moving Stars and Earth for Water. A 2 hour online event in 14 cities around the world, involving the likes of Al Gore, Shakira, Dr. David Suzuki and Matthew McConaughey.




Sounds like a fabulous event. But you have to wonder what could actually have been DONE with the US$35 million that would really have made a difference . . .
